I like this book. Paragraph by paragraph it shows the original text, a good translation, and them all the vocabulary, like a real dictionary. I can then go back and parse the original and actually understand it, including the grammar.By the way, it also explains that the text was authored by Augustus himself to be put on his tomb. A fascinating view into the thoughts of this very impressive and historical man. If you also read the biography by Goldsworthy you will get a very good picture of the real Gaivs Ivlivs Caesar Octavianvs.

The translations of the text were lifted from the Perseus website. I gave it 2 stars because it included translations of most individual words. However, as a student of Latin, I was looking for the parsing of the individual words with regards to conjugations (person, tense, mood) and declensions (whether the nouns or adjectives are nominative, or vocative etc.). This comment goes for all the SPQR books.
I needed to read the Res Gestae for a class and it really helped me to understand it better. The e-book let me jump easily between pages and the layout was really good. The Latin word-lists gave me also the possibility to check out how words are used in the Latin version, even if I don't speak or read Latin.
